bullet  General Notes:

NOTE: Jonathans wife may have been Sarah HOUSE born 1737 died in Braceville Ohio

! Born in 1735. Jonathans's father and mother may have been Joseph and
Sarah Jacobs. Jonathan was married ca 1756-7, probably in New Marlborough, MA
There is nothing in the records of New Marlborough concerning Jonathan except
the birth of his children. Town marriage records begin in 1766.
New Marlborough MA and nearby Caanan Ct. were settled by a large group from
Plainfield, CT. A Part of New Marlborough was given to Tryingham at the
formation of that town. In Tryingham Cemetary is buried Joseph Allen who died 3
Aug 1776 and his wife Sarah Allen who died 13 Feb 1751. Joseph And Sarah
came from Plainfield where there is a record of a son, Rufus born 13 April 1749
There is a strong suggestion that Rufus is the brother of Jonathan.
Jonathan Allen was a private in Captain Caleb Wright's Co.; Col. John
Fellow's Regt.; which marched April 21 1775 in response to the alarm of April
19 1775; service 1 mo. 3 days. (Vol. I,. p 167 Massachusettes Soldiers and
Sailors in the Revolutionary War)
Jonathan Allen, the husband and father of this family died before 1790. In
the Census of that year Sarah is the head of the household. There areten
cemetaries in New Marlborough Township. In 1939-1940 the DAR publisjed the
Inscriptions then found in the township. There was no stone found forJonathan
Allen. Sarah probably could not afford to pay for one.
This information was received from Dorothy Young of Mesa Arizona; however, the
the information came from the records of Marcia Bowdish Phillips(deceased) a
descendant of Ann (Allen) Austin,
