bullet  General Notes:

Sarah Allen, wife of Jonathan Allen of New Marlborough, became a member of the
First Church of Christ in Caanan, CT when that Church was organized by her
brother, Isaac Lawrence. Meetings began Dec. 1769, baptisms, 1770. Sarah joined
May 5 1771 and the next spring on 27 of May 1772 she took her seven children
down to be baptized. On June 6 1773 Sarah took the new baby Oliver to be
baptized. Bathsheba was not baptized. Jonathan did not join the Church.
In 1800 Sarah is still in New Marlborough. In 1810 she is in the household
of one of her sons in Canaan, CT. In 1812 she joined with her family group and
moved to Braceville, Ohio. In 1830 She is living in the household of her son
Joseph. She was then 89 yrs old.
The preceding was a copy of a letter that Dorothy Young of Mesa Arizona sent
me. However, the initials "MBP" were found at the end of the letter.

Sarah ( HOUSE ? ) ALLEN, widow of Jonathan ALLEN, Revolutionary War soldier who had died 1779 in New Marlborough, Mass. removed with her extended fanily to Braceville Township, Trumbull County Ohio in 1810. Son Joseph ALLEN and wife Mary JACOBS and son Rufus ALLEN and wife Lydia BROOKS, together with two dozen of Sarah's grandchildren all settled to farm in Braceville. I would like to share data with other researchers on Sarah and her descendants.
