Sarah Allen, wife of Jonathan Allen of New Marlborough, became a member of the First Church of Christ in Caanan, CT when that Church was organized by her brother, Isaac Lawrence. Meetings began Dec. 1769, baptisms, 1770. Sarah joined May 5 1771 and the next spring on 27 of May 1772 she took her seven children down to be baptized.On June 6 1773 Sarah took the new baby Oliver to be baptized. Bathsheba was not baptized. Jonathan did not join the Church. In 1800 Sarah is still in New Marlborough. In 1810 she is in the household of one of her sons in Canaan, CT. In 1812 she joined with her family group and moved to Braceville, Ohio. In 1830 She is living in the household of her son Joseph. She was then 89 yrs old. The preceding was a copy of a letter that Dorothy Young of Mesa Arizona sent me. However, the initials "MBP" were found at the end of the letter.
Sarah ( HOUSE ? ) ALLEN, widow of Jonathan ALLEN, Revolutionary War soldier who had died 1779 in New Marlborough, Mass. removed with her extended fanily to Braceville Township, Trumbull County Ohio in 1810. Son Joseph ALLEN and wife Mary JACOBS and son Rufus ALLEN and wife Lydia BROOKS, together with two dozen of Sarah's grandchildren all settled to farm in Braceville. Sarah married Jonathan Allen, son of Jonathan Allen "Officer" and Bathsheba Fuller, in 1756. (Jonathan Allen was born on 16 Jan 1735 in Suffield, MA 116 and died in Dec 1789 in New Marlborough, Berkshire Co., MA.)
