General Notes:
Stanley Klatka came to America when Europe had been under hard times. His father sent him to the States during the begining of WWI. He arrived in (Conneticut?) around 1911/12. The Dept. of Immigration wanted him to change his name from Klatka to Cage (the english translation for Klatka) butStanley refused saying that his father wanted Stanley to carry on the family name. Stanley Klatka met Sophie Jankowski at a textile mill in Chicopee, MA. Stanleys' hands were too big to work the small work of the textile factory so he moved on to Columbus, Ohio to the Home of his sister and brother in law, Veronica and Joe Green. Joe Green had sponsered Stanleys' trip to America. Joe Green ran a milking farm and Stanley worked as a milkman where hehad saved up enough money to buy a farm in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. While in Reynoldsburg it had been said that Stanley would make moonshine for the Police. When it came time for the police to raid Stanleys' barn, they would give him advanced warnings so as not to catch him with the goods! Stanley also raised pigeons and sold squab. Sophie Jankowski came up to Columbus to see Stanley and to possibly get married to a man with his own farm. Shortly thereafter they married in East Columbus. An associate friend of Stanleys', Mr. Minneman, was building a golf course in Chardon, Ohio. Mr. Minneman was to be the manager and he asked Stanley if he would be forman and groundskeeper for the Chardon Lakes Golf Course. The property was owned by George Durrell. Mrs. Minneman owned a coffee shop in Becksley, Ohio.? Stanley came up to Munson c.1927 and lived at a house on Auburn Rd just north of Mayfield Rd. The family lived there until about 1940 when they moved to Chesterland and rented the Jacobs' farm off of Mulberry Rd. They remained at the Jacobs' farm for 5 years. In the fourth year of their lease Stanley and Sophie bought the Ashcraft house in 1944 which was on Mayfield Rd in Munson, Ohio. The Klatkas' remained at the Jacobs' farm until 1945. Stanley had taken ill and was prescibed sulfer pills by a Dr. Pease. He told Sophie to give Stanley two pills every 4 hours and she did very diligently. It was at this time when Wilbur Butler had returned from the service andhad recognized that the dosage of sulfer pills that Stanley was taking was 12 per day when he should NOT have exceded more than 8 per day and that he also should have been drinking plenty of water, of which he was not. This had worsened Stanleys' condition and he had been rushed to University Hospital. Dr. Pease had given Stanley a shot in the chest of which we do not know what itwas. Another Doctor. Dr. Price, had suggested to Stanley to see a specialist. Stanley had died on an X-Ray table.
