William J. Quinnell
Wiliam was born in Eastern Canada but lived in Dundas Co. from the time he was four years old until he came to Wales. Mr. Quinell left his parents' home with a wagon, horse,mjule, cow and plow to hemestead at Wales. It has been said that the first winter he lived in his over-turned wagon box till a sod hous was built. In his second year here, Mr Quinell sowed sixty acres of wheat which was almost completely cleanedout by hail, leaving him wiht only twenty dollars for his years work. William married Mary Ellen Blake, daughter of James Henry Blake and Susan Stinson, on 4 Nov 1896 in Bathgate, North Dakota. (Mary Ellen Blake was born on 11 May 1866 in Stephen Twp., Huron Ontario, Canada, died on 10 Oct 1941 in Langdon, North Dakota and was buried in Langdon, North Dakota.) |
