George moved to Exeter and Bideford vicinties of Devonshire. His namecan be found in the Marine Description Books as follows:
"George Blake, attested on January 13 1824 about 17 years of age, 5 ft 6.5 inches in height, light hair, grey eyes, fair complexion, born in Somerset, enlisted at Exeter, labourer by trade, registere as a first class marine, on january 13 1838, discharged january 25 1844 on medical grounds (suffering from pneumonia and phthsis)."

George married Elizabeth "Betsey" Brigeman and had 3 sons. Not long after Georges discharge, the family sailed for Canada. It is not clear what became of George Blake Sr. Some state that George died aboard ship enroute to Canada, others suggest that he died in Ontario. What we know for sure hoever, is that Elizabeth Bridgeman-Blake was residing with her second husband John Bisset at Stephen twp, Huron Co. Ontario by 1851.
