When Robert left New York is unknown. He apparently met his wife Eliza Ann Jerome sometime around 1842 in Orange, Cuyahoga Co. Ohio.
Robert was evidently a farmer and a music teacher. He apparently methis wife to be at a church o at a singing school where he taught. Robert and family were living i LaPeer count, Marathon Twnship, Michiganin 1850 and 1854. He returned to Cyahoga Co., Ohio after the death of Eliza Ann in 1858. He died the day before his 43rd birthday in 1860. He has at least 249 descendants in this study. He is buried in Orange Hill Cemetary, Hunting Valley Village, Ohio.

Robert married Eliza Jerome, daughter of Asahel Jerome and Lavina Caldwell Sabin, on 28 Feb 1843 in Cuyahoga Co. Ohio.9 (Eliza Jerome was born on 10 Mar 1825 in Onondaga, New York,9 died on 23 Mar 1858 in Cuyahoga Co. Ohio 9 and was buried in Orange Hill Cem. Hunting Valley, Cuyahoga Co. Ohio.)
