William (Bill) Anschuetz attended Baldwin Wallace School of Music. Heplayed
piano, drums, and accordian. Bills father,Julius, was a brew meisterat Waldor
Brewery on Union Ave., Cleveland, Ohio. Bill had also worked at Waldorf Breweryas
a brew meister (Forest City Brewery, Inc.Waldorf BeerCleveland, Ohio}. A brew meister
tests the beer while its cooking in coppervats. Al, Bills' brother, worked in the
refrigerated bottling room. The employees had a party room with a barand all used
to entertain. Al had gottenmarried, divorced, then married Anne Russ then divorced a
few years later.
There is no other information on Al.
Bill would go to Gray's Confection Store in Berea. The Russ girls used to
go there also to buy popcorn. The Russ girls had been waiting in linefor a
very long time and when they were walking back to their car they met Bill and a
friend of his. They introduced each other and Bill started dating Sophie. Bill
lived in Berea at this time.
After Bill and Sophie married they lived off Union Ave. around E. 63 St.
within walking distance to the brewery.
Arlene was born in the upper suite of their first home. Then they moved to a
single. Arlene was so tiny they fed her two tablespoonds of milk every two
hours. They used to keep a heating pad in a basket with a pillow on top to keep
her warm.
When the Waldorf Brewery went under they moved to Cranwood Ave.,Garfield
Hts. Don Lev lived on the same street. St. Tims Catholic Church was just
around the corner.
Arlene was an excellent tap dancer and acrobatic dancer. Higbee Co. wanted
her to be a dress model but her dad wouldn't let her.
Bill bought a gas station and had a semi trailer and hauled steel to
Birmingham, Alabama. he would pick up a load of watermelons or vegetables so
that he wouldn't be riding back empty. He'd sell the stuff at the gasstation.
He did very well.
Bill was in Georgia when Sophie had an attact. Sophie couldn't make it up
the stairs. Arlene called her dad and when Bill got home he had an ambulance
take her to the hospital. She lived about another week. She died fromovarian
cancer and the doctor had said that if she lived any longer it would've been
suffering.
