There are 6 spoons in existance belonging to Edward and Diantha Fortewith the initials E.D.F. on them. As far as I know these are still inexistance with Hank and Ray Forte. They were tradmarked in 1801, and assuch, were made well before Diantha and Edward were born. (F-4) There isa tin type photo of Diantha in Linda Dudick's care thanks to Bill and AnnForte.
Diantha was employed as a house mother for a local college during some ofher life. (F-17) When her husband was murdered in Mexico, she didnothave the money to care for her children. They therefore went to live withrelatives at fairly young ages. Leslie, Elizabeth and Henry Lincoln wentto live with relatives in Philadelphia, PA and son Edward C. went to livewith his mother's cousin, Marie Amelia Bunnell and her husband ZeraPatterson in Fenton, Michigan. Her three children in Philadelphia wereraised as Catholics. Edward was raised an Episcopalian. That must havebeen a very difficult decision to make and live with. Much ofthisinformation is from an interview with Margaret Bennett, Diantha'sgreatgranddaughter. She believed that Diantha attended St. Paul's Church inMount Vernon, West Chester Co., NY near the end of her life.
Diantha married Edward Cyrus Forte on 24 Oct 1842 in New Haven, New Haven County, CT.21 (Edward Cyrus Forte was born on 7 Mar 1821 in Barbadoes,21 died on 14 Jun 1858 in Minatitlan, Tehuantepec, Mexico 21 and was buried about Jul 1858 in New Haven, New Haven County, CT 21.)
