Mary was orphaned at age 5 when her mother died. She went to live with Henry Wells in Jacksonville Ill., Julia came for her and took her on the train. After julia died Mary was raised by Henry and Mary Hamlet in Jacksonville Ill.. She graduated from Jacksonville High school in 1918 and from Illinois college. She nearly completed her masters atthe university of Illinois. She taught at Morris, Illinois before shemarried and raised a family. After 1958 she taugth English and Frenchin high schools.

Mary married Earl Henry Traver, son of Morris Robert (Maurice) Traver and Delia Oretta Wright, on 1 Aug 1925 in Independence, Iowa.⁷⁰ (Earl Henry Traver was born on 25 Mar 1900 in Merry Farm, Delaware Co., Iowa,⁷⁰ died on 29 May 1974 in Jacksonville, Morgan Co., Illinois ⁷⁰ and was buried on 31 May 1974 in Diamond Grove Cem., Jacksonville, Illinois ⁷⁰.)
