!Birth register of the Roman catholic parish of Merklin, Czech. Vol.23 Pg.3:

The record of Joseph Bezdeks marriage to Josefa Hess was not found. The entire marriage registers of Merklin were searched. According to comments written in josef Bezdek and joseffa hess' birth records, the marriage probably took place about 1867 out side the parish of Merklin (both birth records have a notation concerning the issuance of birth certificates on the same day for a marriage outside the parish). The children of parents, born in 1865, the Anna Bezdek known to you, however is not noted as illegitimate child or child legitimized by susequent marriage.

Jozef Bezdeks death record was not located in Merklin. According toa notation in the birth record of his daugher Anna, we estimate that he left for America in 1886 or later. At that time his first wife Josefa was already dead and Josef Bezdek had married Alzbeta nee Baxa of Pteni'n. The last record which was found in the Merklin Parish was from 1886 when Josefa and Alzbeta Bezdek were born and shortly after that the son Vaclav died

Josef married Josefka Hess, daughter of Peter Hess and Dorota Geiger. (Josefka Hess was born on 20 Jun 1842 in Klousov, Plzen Co., , Czechoslovakia ¹⁶ and died on 5 Apr 1874 in Ptenin, Plzen Co., , Czechoslovakia ¹⁷.)

Josef next married Alzbeta Baxa.
