Pettition for divorce:

Now comes the plaintiff and says that she has been a bona fide resident of Cuyhoga County and State of Ohio for more that one year last past. Plantiff says that she was married to the defendant at Cleveland, Ohio on May 29th 1909; that there is one child of said marriage Edward,aged five; that there are four minor children of said defendant by former marriage, Marie, sisteen years, Valarian, fourteen years, August thirteen years, and Emily, twelve years.
For her cause of action against the defendant, plantiff says that thedefendant has been guilty of habitual drunkeness for more than three years last past.
Plantiff further says that the defendent has been guilty of extreme cruelty toward this plantiff in the following particulars, among others, to wit; On May 22, 1914, while plantiff was seriously ill, defendant while drunk refused to allow the plantiff to have medical assistance, thereby causing her great pain and suffering. In November 1916 defendant choked this plantiff until she became uncocnious and on various other occations has struck her with his fist and with a leather strap.
On many other occasions, the defendant has threatened the life of said plantiff and has called her vile and unspeakable names in the presence of their minor children, of such nature as not to bear repitition.
Plantiff further says that the defendant has been guilty of gross neglect of duty in the following, to wit;
For many months defendant has refused to work and contribute to the support of said plantiff and their minor children. At many times duringtheir married life defendant stayed away from home at all hours of the night and for a long period of time, said defendant had refused to live with the said plantiff as her husband.
