Zena was a private in Captain Forward's Company of the 18th Regiment,Connecticut Militia, commanded by Colonel Jonathan Humphrey in campaign around New York in 1776.
Private in Captain Harman's Company, Fourth Connecticut Line; went into camp at Peekskill in spring of 1777, and in September ordered to Washington's army in Pennsylvania; wintered at Valley Forge 1777-78.
Zenas married Anne Plumb, daughter of Reuben Plumb and Mary Shepard, on 5 Apr 1785. (Anne Plumb was born on 28 May 1767 and died on 28 Nov 1848 in Akron, Summit Co, Ohio.)
