Sir William Keyt Bart (Keyte) born 1554 died October 15, 1632 Twice married. Firs t to Eglantine Riley died 1592, daughter of Edmund Riley of Campden. By whom he had two son s. The second wife, Eleanor Porter,Widow of Thomas Porter of Micleton, daughter of John Salm on, by whomhe had no issue. William was High Seriff of the County Worcester. He is buried o n the South sid of the Chancel in St. Eadburgha, Ebrington. Being not only charitable to th e poor in life but also at his death he ordered the milk of ten cows to be given evey year fr om the May10 to November 1 unto the poor of Ebrington forever. (from "Keyts of Ebrington Gen ealoghy" written by William B. Stanley 7/19/1881. An actof Parliament was required to rescin g the will in the 1950's.
!SOURCE: From the Keyt Family History Album. Handed down to me from my grandmother, I do not know who compiled it. The first page is a letter to Mrs. Vesta T. Henderson of Austinburg, Ohio from G.E. Keyt, Attorney at Law of Toledo, Ohio dated july 28, 1927. The contents of the letter describeregrets for not being able to attend the annual Keyt reunion. He also adds information on his trip to Ebrington, England and his visits to Keyt family graves. Keyt History begins at the earlist known dwelling place, Ireland. For some cause not known the Keyts became dissatisfied with their Irish home and left the Emerald Isle and made a new home in England, Where they have continued to live for 600 years. The family held the chief positions of their villiage for over 300 years. !DEATH: From Tombstone at the Church in Ebrington England.
William married Eglantine Riley, daughter of Edmund Riley and Unknown. (Eglantine Riley died in 1592.)
