Asahel's occupation was a farmer in Wyoming Valley, PA
Asahel Sr.'s will gave 4 acres of wheat, 2 acres of oats and 1 acre of flax to his wife Sarah, plus a brown mare and 1.5 acres of corn, a silk saddle and bridle, a brown and white cow and 12 hogs. Eldest son,Jason, received a rifle, 2 bull calves, a pale blue silk camblet jacket; second son Asel received a large red and white coat and part of a yoke of oxen; third son, Eldad, got a yoke of oxen, fourth son ,Eri,a 5 pound note and daughter Sarah, a red and white yearling heffer.
Asahel was a private in Washington's army when he died. In 1762 when he was 17 years old he enlisted in the "Havanna Expedition" and served 37 weeks. About 1769 he moved his family to Wyoming Valley, PA where his father had been one of the "First Forty". He enlisted in the American Army (Westmoreland Co., Conneticut Volunteers on 1 Jan 1977, at age 31. He was 5 feet 9 inches tall. Was in the battle at Millstone River, near Somerset Courthouse in New Nersey. he died of Dysentry int the service of his country.
Asahel married Sarah Bronson in 1764 in Conneticut. (Sarah Bronson was born on 29 Aug 1745 in Farmington, Conn 12, christened on 15 Sep 1745 in Farmington, Conn 12 and died in Hartford, Conn.)
